Requirements for Certification

We
are excited to announce that we are now
issuinging Foundation Morgan certificates. Qualifying
horses will receive a certificate that
will
be
stamped and numbered.
They'll serve as a verification of Foundation
status for sellers as well as for those who are purchasing.
You may begin applying for certification at any time. To apply print out the
Application
for Foundation Certification, fill it out and send to the address listed
on the form.
It
is the goal and purpose of FMHS to recognize Morgan
Horses that carry a high percentage of Foundation
bloodlines and encourage breeders to breed the
Morgan Horse back into the Morgan Horse.
In
order to qualify for Foundation certification,
the following requirements must be met:
1) Horse must be DNA registered through either the American Morgan Horse
Association
or the Archival Morgan Record.
2) Horse's sire line must trace to Justin Morgan (very top line of pedigree)
AND the horse must
not have any saddlebred outcrosses after 1930*
3)
A copy, front and back, of the horse's AMHA or
AMR Registraton certificate must accompany the
Application
for Certification.
4) Four identification photos of each horse...front, back and both sides must
accompany the Application
for Certification.
Fee is $10 per horse
If you wish to apply for certification, print out the application and send
to the address on the application.
*No
saddlebred after 1930 means no horse foaled after
1930 with a saddlebred
parent. The one exception is the registered offspring of the saddlebred
mare Ladelle. She had foals, including full siblings, both before and
after the 1930 date that were registered as Morgans. So, the decision was
made to allow those from Ladelle as "Foundation".
